Robin began playing the bass guitar at age 13 while living in Los Angeles, California. He was influenced by the multi-cultural music scene of Los Angeles in the late '60's. He would watch top bands perform along the Sunset Strip, at Alice's Restaurant, The Shrine Auditorium, and the USC campus.
While attending the University of Montana, Robin toured with a USO show during the summers. The group performed at military bases around the world, with a repertoire that included all musical genres.
